Computational Neuroscience at UMB, Ås

Welcome to the research group in computational neuroscience at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at Ås (near Oslo, Norway).

The topics of our research projects are:

• Development of mechanistic models for receptive field of neurons in the lateral geniculate nucleus in the early visual pathway
• Development of NEST, a simulator for networks of spiking neurons, and use NEST to simulate the entire early visual pathway from retina to visual cortex (V1)
• Studies of simplified models for dynamics of interconnected cortical neuron populations
• Modelling of extracellular signatures of neural activity, and the development of mathematical methods for analysis of data from cortical recordings with laminar electrodes
• Development of LFPy, a Python module for simulations of extracellular field potentials from multicompartmental neuron models
• Network models of place-field formation in hippocampus
• Interaction between nerve cells and glia cells
